A career as an Art Director for over 20 years in Advertising and Marketing inevitably led to wanting to be the person who pressed the shutter on the camera rather than just directing the shoot.

The want for creating an image has been with Adrian for a long time, be it in the commercial world of advertising or graphic design, but it’s with his photography where his real passion for creating an image lies. In particular portraits and landscapes, sometimes even combining the two.

Adrian believes with his landscape photography in particular he captures what he refers to as the ‘negative space’. In other words not necessarily the obvious vista, but what might be seen as the unnoticed ordinary. “I’m sure half the time when I’m taking a shot people are looking at me wondering what the hell is he taking a picture of?” Equally he likes to play with horizons in his images, rarely ever having the horizon in the centre of the picture, believing moving the horizon to extremities adds way more drama to the scene.

The post production process equally fascinates Adrian, this being the process where the idea that starts in your head before even pressing the shutter comes to fruition.

Adrian is currently working on a series of projects which will make there way onto this site in due course and into various publications.

Adrian lives in Stoke Newington in North London with his partner Meryl and young son Jenson.
